The Klamath Art Gallery Presents: “More Than Meets The Eye”

August 4 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

45

Sue Graves has enjoyed being a creative person her entire life. She was raised in Iowa and is the seventh of eleven children.  Sue learned early on the value of family connections and traditions, but also the importance of individuality and self-expression.

As a photographer, jeweler and assemblage artist, her creations reflect the wonders of nature, the exploration of design and color, and the desire to connect to the viewer in a meaningful or whimsical way. Depending on her inspiration, she employs a variety of materials such as beads, gifts of nature, found objects, photographs and semiprecious stones.

She believes that every form of self-expression provides both the artist and the observer an opportunity to encounter beauty, curiosity, meaning and delight. Sue’s creations challenge us to look deeper, beyond the everyday significance of the elements within the piece.  Her work has been displayed at the Lava Lands Visitor Center, Silver Falls State Park, Ashland Mountain Supply and currently in Klamath Falls at The Ledge, A Leap of Taste, the Mermaid Garden Café, and the National Resources Conservation Services office.

Natalia Loveness has been drawing and painting since she was a child. Natalia has a degree in Fine art from College of San Mateo. She studied classical drawing, and different painting techniques: direct and indirect painting; glazing, alla prima. She moved from the Bay area to enjoy all the seasons that this part of Oregon has to offer. As an artist, she became interested in accurate representation of reality whether it is a portrait or in scenery. Her landscape and seascape paintings show the beauty of nature: the harmony of greens, blues, and earthy colors. Her paintings reflect the places she has visited. The scenery paintings are from observations, plein air, allowing her to paint outside in the moments of inspiration. Natalia’s art is an interpretation of scenery she sees such as mountains, seas, valleys, forests and flowers.

She wants the viewers to get in touch with their inner selves and connect with emotions of joy or sadness.  Her paintings reflect the beauty of the human soul, as people tend to have much love and empathy within themselves. She often uses photos of friends and family as inspiration for her portrait paintings.  These portraits show her subjects in surroundings that are relevant to their lives. You may contact Natalia Loveness at lovenessnata@aol.com

Sarah Rogers grew up on the West Coast.  She has always found the time to be in nature and found it to be rejuvenating and spiritual. Over the years she discovered that besides nature she enjoys traveling to new locations and exploring different cities, they also are a source of joy and energy.  Through her photos, she seeks to capture the vibrant energy that exists in the contrasts between these two worlds. From the simplicity of a spider web glistening in the sun to the vibrancy of a city street, each setting presents its own unique textures, angles, light, and mood.  Sarah enjoys the interplay of natural and artificial light, often experimenting with various lighting conditions that create unexpected outcomes. Whether it’s the vibrant glow of the sunset over the ocean or the stark contrast of neon against buildings at night, she strives to convey the beauty and complexity of the world around her.  Ultimately, her goal as a photographer is to inspire others to see the world with fresh eyes and to cultivate a deeper connection to the surrounding beauty. Through her work, she aims to evoke a sense of wonder and appreciation for the intricate details that often go unnoticed in our daily lives. Sarah believes there is beauty to be found around every corner.
