Pine Street History Walking Tour
June 15 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am
A walking history tour of a portion of Pine Street in Klamath Falls will be offered by the Klamath County Museum at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 15.
Tour participants are asked to meet at the intersection of Fourth and Pine streets. The walk will cover about three blocks, and last about 45 minutes.
Topics that will be covered include the town’s first church, early hospitals, one of the first funeral homes in town, and various buildings that were razed to make way for parking lots.
“People may be surprised at how many buildings have come and gone over the past century, including some that were very substantial structures,” said museum director Todd Kepple. “We’ll also discuss the first major irrigation canal in the area. There’s scarcely any trace of the canal to be seen downtown today, but we have a map showing where it ran along Pine Street.”
The walk is free and open to anyone interested. For more information contact the museum at (541) 882-1000.
