Friday (4/11/25)
Henley 5, Hidden Valley/New Hope Christian 2
The Hornets scored four runs in the fifth inning and added another in the sixth to secure a win over league rival Hidden Valley. The Mustangs got the tying run to the plate in the seventh but fell short of a comeback.
Jacoby Tacchini knocked in the opening run of the game in the fifth on a single followed by a Beau Pyle two-RBI double. Henley added another in the frame when Carson Pimley hit a sacrifice fly to left field.
Mark Carpenter was the winning pitcher tossing 6.2 innings and fanning a season-high 14 batters. Jack Matthew held the loss for the Mustangs going 4.1 innings allowing five hits, four runs, and striking out four batters.
Pyle continues to impress at the plate going 2-3 with a pair of doubles. This marks a four-game hitting streak for Pyle, and he has five extra-base hits in the last two games. Carpenter was the other Hornet to have multiple hits, turning in a 2-3 day. For Hidden Valley/New Hope Christian, Matthew was 1-3 with a double and two RBI.
The Mustangs begin a week-long series with Klamath Union on April 16th, while Henley faces Phoenix.
Phoenix 5, Mazama 1
The Pirates scored in the first inning and never looked back in a Skyline Conference win over Mazama.
Mazama scored their lone run in the fifth inning when Jacoby Nickerson grounded out to score Jayden Justice.
Kellen Lee pitched a complete game despite picking up a loss for Mazama, working 6.0 innings allowing three hits and striking out four batters. Sam Shilts returned the favor on the bump for Phoenix, going 7.0 innings allowing three hits and one strikeout.
Offensively, Max Rogers, Jayden Justice, and Silas Kapitan each had one hit for Mazama. For Phoenix, Luke Jennings, Connor Cunningham, and Andre Marsing each had hits.
Phoenix begins a series with Henley on April 16th, while Mazama meets Bonanza for mid-week non-conference action on April 15th.
Madras 17, Klamath Union 7 (Game 1)
The Pelicans had an early lead they saw evaporate, as back-to-back seven-run innings for the White Buffaloes put them on top in the opener of a double-header.
Madras struck first with three runs in the first inning, but Klamath Union responded with four of their own as RBI from PJ Safford, Ryan Glidden, and Reese Johnson helped the Pelicans claim the lead. In the fifth inning, the White Buffaloes stormed ahead plating seven runs while the Pelicans committed five errors. Madras added another bundle of runs in the sixth.
Danny Jackson earned the win for Madras going 4.1 innings allowing six hits and striking out six batters. Tildon Coffman held the loss for the Pelicans working 5.0 innings allowing 10 runs (two earned) and striking out eight batters.
Jared Penaloza and Nakomis Rivera were standouts for Madras, each with three hits and three RBI. Ryan Glidden was 2-3 at the plate for Klamath Union while Maruk Morris and Coffman added extra-base hits.
Klamath Union 8, Madras 5 (Game 2)
Klamath Union plated four runs in the first inning en route to matching last season’s win total (7), and the most since 2019 when they downed Madras in the nightcap.
Reese Johnson singled in two runs in the first, followed by a Madras error allowing two more to score on the next play. The White Buffaloes rallied to get the tying run to the plate in the seventh but fell short.
Maruk Morris earned the win for Klamath Union going 6.0 innings allowing three runs (one earned), six hits, and five strikeouts. Bentley Stockton was the losing pitcher, going 5.0 innings with seven hits, six runs, and 10 strikeouts.
PJ Safford was the offensive spark plug for Klamath Union going 3-4 with three RBI and a double. Maruk Morris was 3-4 with an RBI while Tildon Coffman was 2-4. Jared Penaloza was the only White Buffalo with multiple hits, going 3-5 with a double.
Madras begins a series with Gladstone on April 14th, while Klamath Union meets Hidden Valley/New Hope Christian on April 16th.
Lost River 10, Bonanza 0 (Game 1)
Kyle Diaz pitched a complete game as his team mercy-ruled the Antlers for the second time in a row.
Diaz recorded his most strikeouts since the season opener, setting down 10 Bonanza hitters and allowing only one hit in 5.0 innings of work. Bonanza’s starter Layne Miranda worked 1.1 innings allowing seven runs (four earned) with seven walks issues. Alex Renzetti finished the remaining 2.2 innings allowing three runs.
The Raiders offense only needed two hits (singles from Noah O’Neil and Brock Lacy) in the win. The only hit for Bonanza came from Colby Medeiros.
Lost River 19, Bonanza 0 (Game 2)
The Raiders wasted no time jumping all over Bonanza, plating 11 runs in the first inning while coasting to a mercy-rule victory.
Kellen Dunlea was a standout for Lost River at the plate, going 3-5 with four RBI and a double. Connor Guthrie was 3-4 with two RBI and Drew McDonald was 2-3 with two RBI. Only two Antlers got hits in the game as Layne Miranda and Colby Medeiros each singled. That single for Medeiros extends his hitting streak to four games.
McDonald was the winning pitcher for Lost River going a complete game 5.0 innings allowing two hits and eight strikeouts. Miranda was the losing pitcher for Bonanza, working 1.2 innings allowing seven hits, 11 runs (none earned), and two strikeouts.
Bonanza plays up to classifications when they play Mazama on April 15th, while Lost River faces Crosspoint Christian for the first time this season.
Saturday (4/12/25)
Oakridge 5, Crosspoint Christian 0
In the opener of this Warriors vs Warriors doubleheader, Mason Hogue tossed a complete game shutout for Oakridge en route to the victory.
Oakridge scored two runs in the first inning and would add on in each the third, fourth, and sixth innings. Rowdy Williams finished 2-3 for Oakridge. Quiton Barker and Jasper Spoon each added two hits. Wyatt Moyles was 2-3 for Crosspoint.
Hogue worked the complete game and struck out nine batters and allowed six hits. Kody Sparks was the losing pitcher, going 3.1 innings allowing seven hits and three runs.
Oakridge 17, Crosspoint Christian 6
Oakridge used 11 Crosspoint Christian errors to score nine unearned runs in the nightcap, securing the doubleheader sweep.
Jon Miller was 3-3 with two RBI and two doubles for Oakridge. He was helped by a 3-4 day from Cole Walters. Chase Knecht was 2-4 with an RBI for Crosspoint and Kody Sparks was 2-3.
Walters was the winning pitcher for Oakridge going 4.0 innings allowing four hits and one run. Nathan Bowman was the losing pitcher for Crosspoint going 2.2 innings allowing five hits and eight runs.
Oakridge is in action at Reedsport on April 15th while Crosspoint Christian faces Lost River for the first time this season.
