MESA, Ariz. – Kennedy Tull scored a game-high 13 points and the Oregon Tech defense limited Park Gilbert to 28-percent shooting on the night, as the Lady Owls won their third-straight game, a 74-46 victory at the Arizona Athletic Grounds.
The Lady Owls (3-2) held Park 43 points below their scoring average, while dominating the glass for the third-straight outing, holding a 59-40 rebound margin.
“We were able to overcome a poor shooting night with great defense,” said head coach Joy Lease. ‘We held them over 40 points below their average and defended the 3-point line as good as we have all year.”
Tech started the game on a 13-3 run – getting a pair of baskets from Jozie Ramos and Tatum Schmerbach, a short jumper from Alexis Elquist and a 3-pointer from Gabbie Gascon. The Buccaneers (3-4) pulled within 27-20 in the second quarter on a Jacie Bunck triple, but Kennedy Tull scored 6-straight points in a late run that built the Lady Owls a 38-23 halftime lead.
OIT led 54-38 after three quarters, before scoring the first 16 points of the final period – including steals and transition baskets from Gascon and Kendall Fealey.
Both Schmerbach and Ramos scored 12 points in the win, with Gascon adding 11 points and four steals. Elquist had eight points and recorded a career-best 16 rebounds.
Alyanna Palacios led Park with eight points and 10 rebounds.
Tech closes the trip on Saturday, meeting No. 15-ranked Arizona Christian at 12 p.m. (PST)
