Local museums stage three events

July 19 - July 21

Three special events will be offered the weekend of July 19-21 by Klamath County’s public museums. All are free and open to the public.

– The 1969 film “Apollo 11” will be screened during an astronomy event starting at 8 p.m. Friday, July 19, at Steen Sports Park on Foothills Boulevard. The movie about the first moon landing will be followed by a viewing of the moon through telescopes provided by local amateur astronomers. The event is sponsored by the Klamath County Museum.

– A walking history tour covering a portion of Pacific Terrace will be offered at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 20. The walk, postponed from an earlier date due to hot weather, will start at the intersection of Pacific Terrace and Esplanade Avenue. The event is cosponsored by the county museum and the Klamath County Historical Society.

– A “Hat Tour” will be offered in the lobby of the Baldwin Hotel Museum, 31 Main St., at noon Sunday, July 21. The program will feature hats of various styles and materials that were in fashion over the past century.

A model train show continues through July 27 at the Klamath County Museum, 1451 Main St. Entry to the train show is included with regular museum admission. The museum’s hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
