KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – A pair of murders that occurred in Crater Lake National Park in 1952 will be discussed in a program at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 11, at the Klamath County Museum, 1451 Main St.

Monty Orrick, author of the 2023 book “The Crater Lake Murders,” will discuss his research, including study of a voluminous FBI file and his own personal interviews with several Klamath County residents.

Orrick, a native of Northern California, is a photojournalist living in Maine.

The murder victims, Albert Jones and Charles Culhane, were prominent executives for General Motors. Their deaths just inside the park boundary received nationwide media attention at the time.

While the murders were never officially solved, Orrick’s book focuses on two now deceased Klamath County residents who he believes were likely suspects.

Also speaking will be Alan Eberlein, whose father owned a business in Klamath Falls where the two murder victims had paid a call immediately before they headed to Crater Lake.

For more information call the Klamath County Museum at (541) 882-1000.
