Falcons Open With 11-1 Road Loss

MEDFORD, Ore – On Tuesday, the Klamath Falls Falcons (0-1) began the season with an 11-1 loss against the Medford Mustangs (1-0).

The Mustangs got an early jump on the Falcons, scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning. Eli Havey and Jackson Rosenthal each had RBI in the first. The Falcons responded in the third inning when Mark Carpenter wrapped a two-out RBI single to score Ryan Glidden.

Medford pulled away by scoring four runs in the third, and four more in the fifth. The 13-hit attack from the Mustangs was led by Freeman Roundtree who finished 4-5 with two RBI and three runs scored. Tristan Mallari went 3-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Jackson Rosenthal and Jack Knips each added two hits and an RBI.

It was a quiet day offensively for the Falcons who got seven base hits as a team. Ryan Douglas turned in the only multi-hit performance going 2-3 with a pair of singles. Connor Shively, Mark Carpenter, Ian Meyer, Carson Pimley, and Jacoby Tacchini had one hit each.

The pitching was done by committee on Tuesday as the Falcons used five pitchers to get through the contest. Carpenter was hung with the loss after throwing for 1.0 inning allowing three hits and two runs. Chase Knecht, Kollin Tacchini, Corbin Hamilton, and P.J. Safford each got their turn on the hill.

Evan Rhoden earned the win in 4.0 innings and allowing three hits and one run. Dominic Daffron and Grady Sickler combined for the final three innings.

The Falcons and the Mustangs will rematch at least five more times this summer. The next meeting will be the Falcons’ home opener in Klamath Falls at Kiger Stadium on June 6th.
