Talking Heads tribute album reveals tracklist, May 17 release date

The upcoming Talking Heads tribute album entitled Everyone’s Getting Involved: A Tribute To Talking Heads ‘Stop Making Sense’ has an official release date of  May 17.

The album’s full tracklist was also revealed from A24, which features a newly-released cover from Girl In Red of “Girlfriend Is Better” (out now).  A24 wrote on social media: “A once in a lifetime drop. Everyone’s Getting Involved: A Tribute to Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense arrives May 17. Vinyl available now for pre-order, pressed on big suit silver.”

Everyone’s Getting Involved features 16 covers of songs from ‘Stop Making Sense’, the Talking Heads’ 1984 live album that serves as a soundtrack to their concert film of the same name. Miley Cyrus, The National, The Linda Lindas, Paramore, BadBadNotGood, Girl in Red, Lorde and other artists recorded songs for the album.

Details about the tribute also comes on the 40th anniversary of ‘Stop Making Sense’, premiering at the San Francisco Film Festival. That film was restored and rereleased by A24 last year, prompting the band to reunite for Q&As.

Marie Ulven said in a statement: “Talking Heads is an iconic band that helped define my identity when I was a teenager and they continue to inspire young people all around the world. Being a part of this tribute is so sick and I’m super grateful I was given the opportunity. Talking Heads forever!!!!”
