New Year Election Rundown

Klamath Falls, Ore – Shortly into the New Year, we will have to start looking ahead to the May 21 primaries for Sheriff and County Commissioners.

Sally Ann Palcovich has filed to run against Derrick DeGroot for the third seat, and Dave Henslee will also be up for election, however, his position is currently uncontested.

The Sheriff’s office could prove to be a highly contested election with two individuals running for the office. Daren Krag and Bill Stripling have filed paperwork however Sheriff Kaber has not filed at this point saying if the right individual files to run, he will back them, but if not, we may get another runner in that race by Sheriff Kaber himself.

On the City Council side of things, City candidates cannot begin filing until June and their deadline to file is August 27. Each city has its own qualification rules.

Currently, we have 15 positions up for election across the County in the New Year in November with Mayors running in Bonanza, Chiloquin, Klamath Falls, and Merrill.

To better educate our voters, there is an open invitation to any candidates or incumbents who wish to speak with KAGO news about their platforms to come in and record an interview for all the world to see and hear in the KAGO Newsroom in the New Year.
