City and County Eye Abandoned Hillside For Project

At last Monday’s work session of the The Klamath Falls city council, members discussed a plan for the hill side next to the Baldwin hotel. The plan is expected to cost $350,000 and will tie the history district of the area to the site. The question expressed by both city and county officials at the meeting was how to pay for the project. In 2017, Klamath County Commissioners gave the city $100,000 to make the site into a “stunning” entryway into the downtown area. The City Manager says  the next step is fundraising and City Counselor Kelsey Mueller-Wendt said she’ll shoulder the grant writing for the project. County Commissioner Derrick DeGroot said finding the funds should prove to be an easy process.
