CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon Tech right-hander Kacie Schmidt was named Cascade Conference Pitcher of the Week, announced by the league office.
The senior, from Beaverton, helped the Lady Owls sweep a Cascade Conference series at No. 23-ranked College of Idaho, helping the team claim a share of the CCC regular-season title and the host bid for the upcoming CCC Championships.
Schmidt was 2-0 with a save in the series, limiting C of I to just three runs on seven hits in 15 innings of work, striking out 19 – improving to 22-3 on the seasons. She pitched a 3-hit shutout in Game 1, her seventh shutout of the year.
OIT opens up the CCC Championships on Friday, facing the winner of UBC and C of I at 2 p.m.
