Klamath County Sheriff’s Office Warns Community of Scams

From the Klamath County Sheriff’s Facebook page:
“The Klamath County Sheriff’s Office is alerting the public about multiple ongoing phone scams involving individuals who are impersonating our agency.
Scammers are spoofing our official phone number, as well as using other unidentified numbers, making it appear as though the calls are coming directly from us. This spoofing has made it difficult to trace the origin of the calls and take proper action through law enforcement channels.
These fraudulent callers are making false and alarming claims, including:
• That you have a warrant for your arrest due to failure to appear
• That a family member or friend has been arrested and needs bail money
• That the Sheriff’s Office is requesting funding from local businesses for training purposes
These calls are not from us. The Klamath County Sheriff’s Office will never request money or sensitive information over the phone.
If you receive one of these calls:
• Hang up immediately
• Do not give out any personal or financial information
• If you have any doubt about a call you receive, you can contact our office directly Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at 541-883-5130
Please share this post to help protect your family, friends, and neighbors from falling victim to these scams.
Stay alert. Stay informed. Stay safe.”
