KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech celebrated their four softball senior student-athletes with a key Cascade Conference doubleheader sweep, as the Lady Owls ran their win streak to 13 with 2-1 and 17-0 victories over Carroll College at Stilwell Stadium.

OIT (38-6, 20-4 CCC) pulled even with Eastern Oregon for second-place in the league standings heading into the final weekend of the season – needing a series sweep at College of Idaho and EOU to take 2-of-3 from Southern Oregon to claim the league title and host site for the CCC Championships.

Tech rallied to win the conference counter – as the Saints (15-21, 10-12) broke a scoreless tie in the fourth with a 2-out Alyssa Lybbert RBI single. Jayce Seavert started the rally for the Owls in the bottom of the frame with a double, scoring the tying run on a Gina Allen single. An inning later, Malia Mick doubled and raced home on a Nita Cook RBI single.

Carroll loaded the bases in the seventh, but Kacie Schmidt coaxed Elizabeth Ybarra to fly out to end the game.

Schmidt earned her 20th win of the year, holding the Saints to a run on seven hits – with Cook and Allen each recording two hits.

The Lady Owls left no doubt in Game 2, sending 19 batters to the plate in the first, tying a facility record with a 15-run inning – the most runs in an inning by an OIT team since 2022. Allen had a 2-run single, Mick cleared the bases with a 3-run triple and Marla Goodspeed added a 2-run double in the 13-hit outburst.

Jenna Gorden continued her late season surge, throwing her second-straight 1-hit shutout, striking out three.

Each of the four seniors – Schmidt, Goodspeed, Seavert and Zoe Allen – had a hit in the win, while Mick finished 3-for-3 with four RBI.

OIT hits the road for the final weekend of the regular-season, traveling to College of Idaho for a 4-game series beginning Friday afternoon.
