Klamath Union 8, Mazama 5
The Pelicans rallied for four runs in the fourth inning en route to a Skyline Conference victory over the Mazama Vikings. Mazama was able to get the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the seventh inning but fell short of a comeback.
P.J. Safford collected the win for Klamath Union working 4.0 innings allowing three hits and two earned runs while walking five and striking out six. Tildon Coffman earned the save for the Pelicans, pitching the final 3.0 innings and allowing two hits while punching out two. Jayden Justice was the losing pitcher, throwing 3.2 innings allowing four hits, five runs, and striking out six batters.
Coffman continued to impress at the plate, adding two RBI in the contest. Jack Everett also knocked in two RBI on a 1-3 day at the plate. Mason Snell and William Hamilton had RBI for Mazama.
The Vikings are next in action on April 8th hosting Henley. The Pelicans will travel to Phoenix.
Henley 8, The Dalles/Dufur 0
Mark Carpenter threw a complete game shutout as the Hornets coasted to a non-league win over The Dalles/Dufur Riverhawks. The reigning 4A Player of the Year struck out 10 batters and allowed four hits.
Carpenter’s counterpart from The Dalles, Daylee Miller, was less fortunate as the freshman hurler was rocked for seven runs in 4.0 innings allowing seven hits and walked four batters.
Carpenter was also a star at the dish, going 3-4 with a double, homerun, and two RBI. Jacoby Tacchini was the only other Hornet with multiple hits as he booked a 2-3 day with an RBI. Only two Hornets didn’t earn a hit, as the team rattled 10 as a unit.
Bonanza 12, Glendale 2 (Game 1)
The Antlers consistent attack at the plate helped them to a six inning mercy rule victory over Glendale. The Antlers struck first with one run in the second inning. Then added two in the third, and three in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings.
Colby Medeiros earned the win on the hill for Bonanza, working 5.0 innings allowing four hits and striking out 11 batters against four walks. The losing pitcher was the Pirates’ Huntyr Rocha who pitched 4.0 innings allowing eight hits and seven runs.
Offensively, Bonanza was led by Layne Miranda who finished 2-2 with a double and two RBI. Miranda also walked three times boosting his team leading On-Base Percentage to .640. He was helped by John Nordin as the other Antler with multiple hits.
Glendale 21, Bonanza 5 (Game 2)
The Pirates flipped the script on the Antlers in game two of a double-header, collecting 10 hits and taking advantage of five Bonanza errors to cruise to a mercy rule victory in five innings.
Glendale broke the game open with four runs in the first inning, then added eight more in the fourth to put the game away. Holdyn Buthcer was the standout for Glendale as the freshman went 4-5 with two RBI. The Antlers bright spot in the order was Daniel Jones who went 2-2 with two RBI.
Layne Miranda was the losing pitcher, working 3.0 innings allowing six hits and eight runs (three earned) while striking out seven batters. Zack Kline earned the win for Glendale, going 4.1 innings allowing seven hits and five runs (one earned).
Glendale meets Oakland on April 7th, while Bonanza is in action at Lost River on April 8th.
Lost River 7, Illinois Valley 2 (Game 1)
The Raiders rallied for four runs in the fourth inning to earn the win over the Cougars. Connor Guthrie hit a two-out single in the inning to drive in a pair of runs, extending the lead.
The pitching stifled the Cougars, as Kyle Diaz nearly went the distance working 6.2 innings allowing just two hits and striking out seven batters. Illinois Valley split the pitching duties evenly, starting with Bryson Gilmore pitching 3.2 innings allowing one hit and striking out seven batters. Braedan Lapora finished the remaining 3.1 innings allowing seven hits and four runs with three punchouts.
Doug Jenkins paced the Raiders with three hits and two RBI. Guthrie was the other Lost River player with multiple hits and added two RBI. Only Jackson Tincher and Jeremiah Izzo recorded hits for the Cougars.
Illinois Valley 6, Lost River 4 (Game 2)
A late comeback attempt by the Raiders was cut short, as Illinois Valley held on to the win. Lost River was able to score four runs in the top of the seventh inning and got the tying run to the plate, but had to settle for a split on the day with the Cougars.
The Cougars struck first in the first inning on a sacrifice fly from Kegan Russell. Illinois Valley added one more in the fourth, and plated four in the fifth to grab the win. Zack Dugas paced the Cougars with a 2-3 day scoring two runs.
The Raiders were held to just three hits with Beau Sanders and Doug Jenkins hitting singles, and Connor Guthrie adding a double.
Illinois Valley is in action next on April 8th when they host Riddle. Lost River is also back in the diamond then when they welcome Bonanza

Henley 7, North Marion/Gervais 0
Corbin Hamilton went the distance as he shutout the Huskies to earn his second win of the season. Hamilton held the Huskies to just one hit while striking out seven batters in the win.
The Henley bats were hot to start the game, scoring in each of the first two innings. Jacoby Tacchini went 3-5 to lead the team, adding two RBI. Hamilton also did some work at the plate, going 2-5 with an RBI.
Cole Laninga pitched the middle 5.0 innings, earning the loss giving up seven hits and four runs. Miguel Flores was the only Husky to have a base hit.
The Hornets face Mazama in a return to Skyline Conference play on April 8th, while North Marion/Gervais plays Marist on the 7th.
Crosspoint Christian 19, Riddle 6
The Warriors jumped out to a 6-2 lead after te first two innings and never looked back as they picked up the first conference win in program history on Saturday.
Crosspoint got key contributions from Chase Knecht, Nate Gibson, and Nathan Bowman who each had two hits in the win, with Gibson and Bowman adding a combined five RBI. As a team, the Warriors amassed seven hits.
Kody Sparks earned the win going 3.0 innings and allowing three hits and two runs (none earned). Wyatt Moyles got the save, pitching the remaining 3.0 innings allowing four hits, four runs (two earned) and striking out three. Layton Lewis picked up the loss for the Irish, pitching 4.0 innings and allowing five hits and seven runs (two earned).
The teams combined for 11 errors and 12 unearned runs.
Riddle 5, Crosspoint Christian 1
The Riddle Irish bounced back from a game one loss and rallied late to secure a win against the Warriors.
Crosspoint Christian was held to just three hits as the Irish starter Tucker Halstead worked 6.0 innings and struck out 14 batters. Chase Knecht got the start for the Warriors and went 5.1 innings allowing five hits while striking out 8 batters.
Riddle travels to Cave Junction to face Illinois Valley on April 8th, while the Warriors challenge the Chieftains of Rogue River.
