KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Gina Allen finished 4-for-7 with two doubles, a triple and two RBI, helping Oregon Tech complete a 4-game sweep of Bushnell, earning 2-0 and 7-2 victories at Stilwell Stadium.
The No. 2-ranked Lady Owls (17-3, 7-2 CCC) extended their win streak to nine heading into a 10-game road trip starting Tuesday at Pacific University.
Kacie Schmidt tossed a 2-hit shutout in the opener, with Alli Parker throwing five strong innings in Game 2, as Tech ran their win streak against the Beacons (6-17, 1-11) to 33 games.
OIT needed two batters to plate a run in Game 1, as Nita Cook singled followed by an Allen triple into the right field corner, giving the Owls a 1-0 lead. Tech would double the lead in the third – loading the bases with one out, scoring a run on a Puakea Milbourne fielders’ choice.
It was enough for Schmidt, who did not allow a Beacons player to reach third base. The right-hander walked one and struck out seven to earn her 21st career shutout win.
Allen was the lone player for either team with a multi-hit game, going 2-for-3.
Tech started quickly in the nightcap – as Cook singled, stole second and scored on an Allen RBI double. Two outs later, Addison Kachnik followed with an RBI double to extend the margin to 2-0.
Bushnell got a run back in the second on a Ashlyn Martin solo homer, but OIT put the game away with a 5-run fourth inning. Jazmine Macias started the rally with a solo homer and following a 2-out error, Milbourne made is 7-1 with a 3-run blast to left.
Parker went five innings, allowing just four hits for her fifth win of the season. Both Allen and Milbourne were 2-for-4 in the win for OIT.
