Hill Tosses Five No-Hit Innings, Owls Roll To 9-1 Win

IRVINE, Calif. – Isaac Hill struck out five batters in five no-hit innings, as Oregon Tech rode a 14-hit attack to a 9-1 victory over Westcliff University at Great Park.

The sophomore walked three, throwing only 57 pitches, in earning his fourth-straight win dating back to last season.

Matthew Ortiz recorded his sixth career game with 4-or-more hits, going 4-for-5 with a double, two stolen bases and an RBI to lead the Hustlin’ Owls (2-0) attack.

Ortiz got Tech started in the first, leading off with a single, stealing second and scoring on a Korrey Siracusa sacrifice fly. An inning later, Jacob Cook walked, stole second and scored on a bunt single from Patrick BarryTyler Horner followed with an RBI single to plate Barry to extend the lead to 3-0. Ty Blakely lifted a third inning sacrifice fly, with Barry lining a 2-run fifth inning double to push the lead to 6-0.

The OIT bullpen did the rest, as Landon CheneyDrake Aboud and Jaden Domingsel held the Warriors (7-2) to one run on three hits over four innings of work.

Barry finished 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI, with Michael O’Daniel going 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored.

The Owls play a pair of games tomorrow – opening with an 11 a.m. match-up vs. Bethesda, before a 2 p.m. date with No. 2-ranked and defending NAIA champ, Hope International.
