Oregon Tech 73, Evergreen State 61
Jozie Ramos scored a game-high 21 points, as Oregon Tech ran their road win streak to nine games, stopping Evergreen State, 73-61, inside the Costantino Recreation Center.
The No. 23-ranked Lady Owls (16-4, 12-2 CCC) used 9-2 runs in both the second and fourth quarters to pull away for the victory – making 18-of-23 free throws and forcing TESC into 17 turnovers.
After a tight first quarter, turned a 22-20 lead into a 31-22 margin – as Brooke Anderson canned a 3-pointer and a baseline jumper, Maddyson Tull scored on the block, with Kaitlyn Wright finishing in transition.
The Geoducks (3-13, 3-11) remained close behind the play of Sydney VanNess, scoring eight of her team-high 18 points in the third quarter – keeping TESC within 51-43 early in the fourth quarter.
Tech turned to Ramos, who converted a tough 3-point play to start a rally, with the sophomore finishing in the paint after a Tatum Schmerbach feed. Schmerbach extended the margin to 60-45 on a transition lay-up following a Brooke Anderson steal – with the Owls coasting the final five minutes.
Schmerbach ended the night with 15 points, 10 rebounds and five assists, with Anderson scoring nine points with four assists and four steals in her first collegiate start.
Jalyn Sackrider scored 13 and Mikail Montez had 12 in the loss for the Geoducks, who were outscored in the paint, 40-16.
Oregon Tech 76, Northwest 66
Tatum Schmerbach recorded her second-straight double-double, as five Oregon Tech players scored in double-figures, as the Lady Owls tied a school-record with their tenth-straight road win, a 76-66 decision at Northwest University.
OIT (17-4, 12-3 CCC) never trailed on the night in completing a weekend sweep of the Washington schools, setting up a Top-25 match-up Tuesday night at No. 4-ranked Southern Oregon.
Schmerbach scored 16 points, adding 12 rebounds and four assists – converting inside during an 11-2 run by the Lady Owls to open the game.
The Eagles (5-16, 4-11) answered with a 7-0 run to pull within 19-18 late in the first quarter, adding an 8-0 second quarter run to cut the gap to 32-30. Schmerbach found Jozie Ramos for a lay-up, Kennedy Tull canned a 3-pointer and converted a runner in the paint, helping the visitors take a 39-32 lead to the half.
Tech looked to have put the game away in the third quarter – as Ramos, Schmerbach and Brooke Anderson all made a pair of shots in a 15-2 run that gave the Owls a 58-37 lead – but NU clawed back. Kaleah Medeiros and Ellie DeWaard each hit triples in a 14-2 run by the hosts to end the quarter, pulling the Eagles within 60-51.
The Owls persevered late, as Maddyson Tull recorded two put-back buckets midway through the fourth quarter to extend the margin to 70-56 – securing the victory.
Kennedy Tull had 15 points, Ramos posted 15 points and eight rebounds, Maddyson Tull had 10 points and seven rebounds, with Anderson finishing the evening with 10 points, seven rebounds and six assists.
DeWaard led NU with 16 points and 10 rebounds and Medeiros scoring 14 in the loss – as the Eagles were outrebounded, 52-30.
