The Lost River-Bonanza rivalry delivered a pair of exciting matchups this weekend, and there was plenty of other action around the Basin too. Here’s everything you may have missed.

Friday

Crosspoint Christian 49, C.S. Lewis Academy 38 (Girls)

A 21-point fourth quarter helped Crosspoint Christian pull away for a road win.

The Warriors trailed 10-5 after the first quarter but took a 20-19 lead into halftime. They led 28-25 after the third quarter.

Juniors Hannah Langford and Charlotte Spalding led Crosspoint Christian with 10 points each (Langford scored 8 points in the fourth quarter), sophomore Norah Radford had 9 (on three triples), freshman Olivia Fenner had 6, senior Jade Cummings and junior Keira Mahan had 4 each, freshman Sayuri Serrano-Lopez had 3, sophomore Chloe Butler had 2 and freshman Faith Anderson had 1.

For C.S. Lewis Academy, senior Julia Heimuller had 16 points, sophomore Madison Hurst had 8 (6 in the fourth quarter), sophomore Molly Erickson had 7, sophomore Serena Gregory had 4, freshman Lexi Dorman had 2 and freshman Emily Sturdevant had 1.

Lost River 39, Bonanza 38 (OT) (Girls)

Lost River (11-4, 4-0) senior Zuliana Cobian blocked a midrange shot at the overtime buzzer to give the host Raiders their first win over Bonanza (9-8, 2-2) since the 2019-20 season and keep them in sole possession of first place in the East Cascades Conference.

The Raiders never trailed in the extra period, which came after a wild sequence at the end of regulation. Down 30-27 late in the fourth quarter, the Antlers got back-to-back buckets from seniors Vashti Arata and Grace Kness to pull ahead 31-30 with one minute remaining–their first lead since scoring the game’s first points. On the ensuing Lost River possession, senior Mckenzie Dalton put back a missed three to give the Raiders the lead again.

With 15 seconds remaining, Kness split a pair of free throws to even the score at 32-32. Lost River unsuccessfully tried to win it with a top of the key three and left enough time on the clock for Kness to pick up the ball (after it was kept alive on the baseline), race to halfcourt and throw up a shot.

As the ball left Kness’s hands, the near official called a foul, giving her three free throws with 0.3 seconds on the clock. She missed the first two but made the third, effectively clinching the win–until the Bonanza bench rushed the court.

The premature celebration drew a technical foul, and Raiders senior Avery Turner made the first free throw to tie the game. Although she missed the second shot with a chance to win it in regulation, she led Lost River with three points in overtime. Turner and Antlers senior Mary Schooler had the only made field goals in the extra frame; all other points came at the free-throw line.

The Raiders led 9-4 after the first quarter, 14-8 at halftime and 23-19 after the third quarter. They had lost their previous eight games against Bonanza entering Friday’s matchup.

Turner finished with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 2 steals; Dalton had 10 points, 15 rebounds and 2 steals; sophomore Amaris Hernandez had 7 points (including two threes) and 3 rebounds; Cobian had 6 points (on two threes), 3 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocks; freshman Isabelle Herring had 5 points; and senior Gemma Arceo-Bigoni had 3 rebounds.

For the Antlers, Kness had 14 points (6 in the fourth quarter), 7 assists and 2 rebounds; Schooler had 13 points (8 in the fourth quarter and overtime), 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals; Arata had 5 points and 4 rebounds; sophomore Abby Hill had 2 points, 7 rebounds, 5 steals and 2 assists; junior Maggie Ackley had 2 points and 3 rebounds; junior Briza Garcia had 1 point, 5 rebounds and 5 steals; and sophomore Ayla DeLonge had 1 point.
