Oregon Tech 82, Northwest 42

Oregon Tech scored 31 points off 28 Northwest University turnovers, holding the Eagles to 27% shooting from the field, as the Lady Owls rolled to an 82-42 victory at Danny Miles Court.

OIT (9-3, 5-1 CCC) had 13 players score, with Tatum Schmerbach pacing the club with 18 points and eight rebounds and freshman Brooke Anderson posting a career-high 12.

Tech made 61% of their first half field goals, taking a 47-17 lead to halftime – allowing every player on the bench to play at least four minutes in the win.

NU (4-8, 3-3) took a 4-2 lead in the early going – but an 11-0 run, keyed by a pair of baskets from both Schmerbach and Jozie Ramos, along with a 3-pointer from Kennedy Tull gave the hosts the lead.

Holding a 13-8 edge, the Owls broke the game wide open with a 22-5 run – getting six points each from Schmerbach and Alexis Elquist, along with five from Anderson – extending the margin to 35-13. OIT would hold the Eagles to one made field goal over the final 15 minutes of the first half – forcing 10 turnovers in the second quarter alone.

The lead grew to 73-30 early in the fourth quarter following a 13-0 run – as Anderson capped her night with consecutive jumpers and Kate Miles drained a long triple.

Tull scored 12 and Ramos added 10 in the win, with Kaitlyn Wright recording two points, three rebounds, three assists and five steals. OIT had a 46-26 edge on the glass in winning their ninth game in 10 outings.

Kimberly Carrada Sanchez had 13 points for NU, with Kaleah Madeiros scoring 10, but the duo combined for 13 turnovers.

Oregon Tech 78, Evergreen State 62

Career nights from Kaitlyn Wright and Kendall Fealey helped Oregon Tech win their fourth in a row, stopping Evergreen State, 78-62, inside Danny Miles Court.

The Lady Owls (10-3, 6-1 CCC) recorded a season-high 19 steals, turning 24 TESC turnovers into 31 points, with the OIT bench scoring 39 points. Wright scored 14 points in the win and Fealey added 12.

Sydney Vanness canned a long 3-pointer to give the Geoducks (1-8, 1-6) a 7-3 lead three minutes into the game – but the visitors missed 13 of their next 14 field goal attempts. The Owls took advantage, outscoring TESC 22-2 over the 10-minute span. Fealey started the rally with consecutive 3-pointers, Brooke Anderson canned a triple, with Wright adding a lay-up in the flurry – as Tech extended the lead to 40-19 at the half.

Kennedy Tull hit a trey and added a lay-up early in the third quarter, with a Tatum Schmerbach 3-point play capping a 10-0 run that gave the Lady Owls their largest lead at 50-23. TESC battled back, as Vanness hit a 3-ball and a lay-up, part of a 16-4 run that cut the lead to 54-39 – as the Geoducks made 10-of-14 field goals in the period.

The margin dwindled to 70-58 on a Vanness 3-pointer with two minutes remaining, but a Maddyson Tull put-back bucket and a Fealey transition lay-up closed out the OIT win.

Schmerbach had 10 points, six rebounds and eight assists, Maddyson Tull had 10 points and five rebounds, with Anderson leading Tech with a career-high eight rebounds.

Allison Deberry had a season-high 19 points and seven rebounds for the Geoducks.

Tech hits the road next weekend, traveling to Portland for games at Warner Pacific and Multnomah.
