A total of 11 games involving Basin teams took place Friday and Saturday. Here’s everything you may have missed.
Friday
Bend 81, Klamath Union 61 (Boys)
A 35-point outing from senior Grafton Watah wasn’t enough for Klamath Union (4-6) as 5A Bend (5-4) burned the visiting Pelicans for their most points allowed since the 2021-22 season.
Watah shot 13-of-23 (57%) from the field, including 6-of-9 from 3-point range. He also had 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks. Junior Landon Bogatay had 8 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals; senior Malcolm Lassett-Hankins had 8 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists; junior Tildon Coffman had 6 points; senior Bryce Petersen had 3 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists; senior Roland Vannarath had 1 point; senior Ryan Glidden had 3 rebounds; and sophomore Tuko Saluskin had 2 rebounds.
The Pelicans committed 34 turnovers and shot 23-of-58 (40%) from the field, including 7-of-22 (32%) from 3-point range. They made 8-of-19 free throws (42%).
Both teams play at 7 p.m. Tuesday; Klamath Union travels to Ashland (6-4) for its third straight game against a 5A opponent, while Bend hosts Mazama (2-6).
Junction City 53, Henley 42 (Boys)
Junction City never trailed en route to beating Henley at the Sisters Shootout for the third year in a row.
The Tigers led 17-4 after the first quarter, 27-15 at halftime and 42-30 after the third quarter. The Hornets used a 9-0 run to draw within 34-26 with 2:21 left in the third but were unable to keep the momentum.
Senior Bryson Montag led Henley with 15 points (7 in the second quarter), 12 rebounds and 2 steals; senior Finn Charlton had 6 points (on two threes), 2 rebounds and 2 assists; junior Ries Schmerbach had 6 points (all on made free throws in the third quarter) and 2 assists; sophomore Carson Siems had 4 points (all in the fourth quarter) and 3 rebounds; junior Jeremiah Brunick had 4 points (all in the second quarter) and 3 rebounds; senior Nolan Mick had 4 points (all in the third quarter); sophomore Corbin Hamilton had 3 points and 4 rebounds; and junior Sam Bennett had 2 rebounds.
For Junction City, junior Kaden Shafer had 26 points (including four threes), junior Gaven Grover had 10, junior Carter Franks had 9, and juniors Logan Holbrook and Kaleb Moore had 4 each.
The Tigers are now 7-0 against the Hornets in the past four seasons, including two state tournament matchups.
Henley 63, Caldera 41 (Girls)
Henley blew a 15-point lead, then got it back in a physical, loosely-called matchup with 5A Caldera.
The Hornets led 20-5 after the first quarter, but the Wolfpack put together an 18-1 run to take their first lead of the game with 2:43 remaining in the second. Henley turned the ball over eight times during that stretch, which was capped off with a deep three by senior Ali Heinly.
Caldera’s first lead turned out to be its only lead, as the Hornets answered with six straight points over the next 1:10 and took a 30-27 lead at halftime. They outscored the Wolfpack 17-4 in the third quarter to take a 47-31 lead into the fourth.
Freshman Makayla Schroeder recorded her fifth straight double-double with 21 points (11 in the first quarter) and 16 rebounds; junior Lily Fussell had 13 points (8 in the third quarter), 7 rebounds and 6 steals; senior Anna Harper recorded her second double-double of the season with 12 points, 10 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 assists; sophomore Prestyn Schade had 8 points (6 on made free throws), 6 assists and 3 rebounds; senior Bayli Ladner had 4 points, 2 rebounds and 2 steals; junior Senia Campos had 3 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals; and junior Kennedi Modin had 2 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 assists.
For Caldera, Ali Heinly finished with 14 points (6 in the second quarter), junior Sammy Chandler had 12 (8 in the second quarter), sophomore James Heinly had 7, junior Paisley Waldron had 6 (on two threes) and senior Reese Bradbury had 2.
Henley’s 63 points are the second-most the Wolfpack have allowed this season. The Hornets have faced Caldera in all three seasons of the varsity program’s existence (the school opened to freshman and sophomores in 2021 and played a JV schedule that season) and are now 3-0 in the series.
Crosspoint Christian 44, Central Christian 27 (Girls)
Crosspoint Christian began Mountain Valley League play with a road win over Central Christian.
The Warriors led 17-8 after the first quarter, 23-14 at halftime and 36-22 after the third quarter.
Sophomore Chloe Butler led Crosspoint Christian with 12 points, followed by junior Hannah Langford with 11, junior Charlotte Spalding and freshman Sayuri Serrano-Lopez with 6 each, sophomore Norah Radford with 5, and senior Jade Cummings and junior Kim Pannell with 2 each.
For the Tigers, junior Tabitha Terry had 11 points, sophomore Delaney McCaw had 7, sophomore Alexa Epley had 6 and sophomore Joslynn Terry had 3 (all on made free throws).
Crosspoint Christian 57, Central Christian 39 (Boys)
With junior starter Davis Hartwell–an Oregon State golf commit–in Florida for the Junior Orange Bowl International Golf Championship, Crosspoint Christian took some time to gain separation in its Mountain Valley League opener.
The Warriors were tied 12-12 with host Central Christian after the first quarter. They led 32-24 at halftime and 51-32 after the third quarter.
Senior Kody Sparks led Crosspoint Christian with 15 points (including 4-of-6 threes), 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals; junior Clayton Turnage had his first double-double of the season with 12 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals; sophomore Caden Moritz had 12 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals; sophomore Trey Johnston had 4 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals; junior Brock Throne had 8 points and 4 rebounds; junior Collin Kleinjan had 4 points and 3 rebounds; senior Paul Casson had 2 points and 2 rebounds; and senior Chase Knecht had 4 assists.
For the Tigers, junior Jase Johnson had 13 points, freshmen Colby McCaw and Justice Babbitt had 11 each (McCaw hit two triples and Babbitt hit three), and freshman Rawley Tritto had 4.
The Warriors outrebounded Central Christian 34-15. They shot 24-of-51 (47%) from the field, including 4-of-12 from 3-point range, and hit 5-of-8 free throws (63%).
Klamath Union 55, Ashland 45 (Girls)
Klamath Union (5-5) took a trip to 5A Ashland (4-7) and came back with its third straight win.
Junior Bella Armijo led the Pelicans with 14 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals; senior Andi Harmon had 13 points and 6 rebounds; senior Leah Segura had 13 points and 5 rebounds; sophomore Lisette Watah had 9 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists; junior Anyssa Jimenez had 3 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals; senior Farrah Zumwalt had 2 points, 4 steals and 2 assists; junior Shakyla Jackson had 1 point; senior Jazmin Wilson had 5 assists, 2 rebounds and 2 steals; and junior Ariah Miller had 3 assists.
Klamath Union shot 24-of-66 (36%) from the field, including 2-of-11 (18%) from 3-point range, and made 5-of-12 free throws (42%).
The Pelicans host 5A Eagle Point (6-4) at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Grizzlies travel to Hidden Valley (3-8) at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Saturday
Banks 60, Henley 57 (Boys)
In a fourth quarter that featured three ties and five lead changes, second-chance opportunities helped provide the winning margin for 3A Banks (7-4) on the final day of the Sisters Shootout.
With 2:40 remaining and the game tied 48-48, Braves senior Max Walker drew a foul after an offensive rebound, earning a trip to the free throw line. He made the first and missed the second, but junior Jarrett Martin grabbed the miss and scored through contact to put Banks up 51-48. Then, with 1:14 on the clock and the Braves leading 54-52, senior Brayden Exline was fouled on a drive to the hoop. Like Walker, he made the first and missed the second. This time, sophomore Fisher King came up with the rebound and putback to give Banks a 57-52 lead.
Henley (3-6) did not generate any second-chance opportunities in the final three minutes. Sophomore Micah Ibarra buried a triple with just under five seconds remaining for the final points; the Braves were able to let the clock expire on the inbound without giving Henley a chance to foul.
A 6-0 run over the last 1:28 of the first quarter gave Banks a 13-5 lead entering the second. The Braves led 26-20 at halftime, but the Hornets went on a 7-1 run over the last 2:31 of the third quarter (including four points from senior Bryson Montag) to take a 40-38 lead into the fourth.
Sophomore Corbin Hamilton led Henley with a career-high 16 points and 4 rebounds; Montag finished with 13 points (all in the second half), 6 rebounds and 3 assists; sophomore Carson Siems had a career-high 9 points (on three triples) and 2 assists; Ibarra had 8 points (including two threes), 2 rebounds and 2 assists; junior Ries Schmerbach had 6 points (on two threes), 3 assists and 2 steals; senior Finn Charlton had 3 points; and senior Nolan Mick had 2 points and 3 rebounds.
Senior Noel Mayo led Banks with 16 points (8 in the fourth quarter), followed by Exline with 15 (10 on made free throws), King with 10, Walker with 9 (all in the second half), Martin with 8 and senior Luke Bigsby with 2.
The Hornets made a total of nine 3-pointers, while the Braves only made one. The Hornets also made 4-of-8 free throws, while the Braves made 23-of-36 (64%)–including 12-of-16 in the fourth quarter.
Henley hosts 3A La Pine (4-7) at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Banks hosts Rainier (2-9) to open Coastal Range League play at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Henley 61, Valley Catholic 58 (Girls)
For the second year in a row, Henley (8-1) junior Kennedi Modin came through in the closing seconds to lift the Hornets to a win over a 3A opponent in their final game at the Sisters Shootout.
This time, she did it on defense.
Inbounding from under its own basket with 7.5 seconds left, Valley Catholic (5-6) hurried into the frontcourt and got the ball to junior Brooke Wilson, who had made four of the Valiants’ eight 3-pointers. Modin immediately put the clamps on Wilson, forcing her into a bad shot at the buzzer that was well off the mark.
Henley closed the game on an 8-1 run after Valley Catholic took a 57-53 lead with 2:48 to go. A pair of made free throws by senior Anna Harper put the Hornets up 60-58 with 1:05 remaining, and the defending 4A champions forced turnovers on the Valiants’ next two possessions. Valley Catholic fouled to send Henley to the free throw line after the second turnover, setting up the final play.
The Hornets emerged with a 17-13 advantage from a first quarter that featured nine lead changes. An 8-0 run helped Henley push its lead to as much as 33-21 with 3:48 left in the first half, but the Valiants responded with a 10-1 run over the next two minutes to cut it to 34-31. The Hornets were able to settle things down and took a 38-31 lead into halftime.
Henley led for most of the third quarter, but Valley Catholic hit back-to-back threes to tie the game 44-44 with 1:57 remaining in the period. With 18 seconds to go, senior Mia Rosebrook made a layup to send the Valiants to the fourth leading 48-47.

Henley, which is now ranked No. 5 in the OSAA 4A computer rankings, travels to 5A No. 7 Redmond (6-5) at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Valley Catholic hosts Horizon Christian Tualatin (1-3) to open Lewis & Clark League play at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
New Hope Christian 64, Crosspoint Christian 21 (Girls)
Crosspoint Christian (7-3) surrendered its most points of the season as visiting New Hope Christian (8-0) remained one of two undefeated teams left in 1A (along with North Clackamas Christian).
New Hope Christian led 14-5 after the first quarter, 26-12 at halftime and 48-18 after the third quarter.
Junior Hannah Langford led Crosspoint Christian with 7 points, followed by freshman Sayuri Serrano-Lopez with 5, senior Jade Cummings with 4, junior Charlotte Spalding with 3 and sophomore Norah Radford with 2.
For New Hope Christian, senior Ava Barnett had 23 points (10 in the third quarter), senior Jordan Zumhofe and sophomore Cadence Gonzales had 14 each, senior Kaylin Mathiesen had 9, and senior Maddi Drost and sophomore Nora Ahlstrom had 2 each.
Crosspoint Christian shot 7-of-37 (19%) from the field, including 3-of-18 (17%) from 3-point range, and made 4-of-10 free throws. New Hope Christian shot 27-of-71 (38%) from the field, including 5-of-20 from 3-point range, and made 5-of-10 free throws.
Crosspoint Christian returns to Mountain Valley League play at Rogue Valley Adventist Academy (3-1, 0-0) at 6 p.m. Tuesday. New Hope Christian travels to 3A Rogue River (1-8) at 6 p.m. Monday.

Crosspoint Christian outrebounded New Hope Christian 52-24. The host Warriors led 16-12 after the first quarter, 32-24 at halftime and 48-35 after the third quarter.
Junior Brock Throne recorded his third double-double of the season with 19 points and 19 rebounds; sophomore Caden Moritz had 17 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals; junior Clayton Turnage had 8 points (6 in the third quarter) and 9 rebounds; senior Kody Sparks had 8 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists; sophomore Trey Johnston had 4 points and 5 rebounds; senior Chase Knecht had 2 points and 2 rebounds; and junior Collin Kleinjan had 2 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists.

Visiting Mazama (3-6) recorded back-to-back wins for the first time since the 2022-23 season and handed 3A Lakeview (3-8) its sixth straight loss.
Junior Jagger Jackson led the Vikings with 15 points, 3 assists and 3 steals; senior Kai Hunt had 13 points, 6 assists and 2 rebounds; senior Jordan Beals had 8 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals; senior Gabe Nanni had 7 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 assists; junior Michael Piscitello had 5 points; senior Ryan Hayden had 4 points, 9 rebounds and 2 steals; senior Dominic Melgoza had 2 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists; sophomore Brody Mahon had 1 point and 2 assists; and senior Deshawn Carter had 2 rebounds.
Mazama shot 22-of-64 (34%) from the field, including 4-of-14 (29%) from 3-point range, and made 7-of-13 free throws (54%). Lakeview shot 11-of-50 (22%) from the field, including 2-of-18 (11%) from 3-point range, and made 5-of-11 free throws (45%). The Vikings had six turnovers to the Honkers’ 17.
Mazama travels to 5A Bend (5-4) at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Lakeview hosts Lost River (6-1) at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 10.
