There was plenty of Basin high school basketball action this weekend with Klamath Union competing in the SCTC Holiday Classic at Stayton and Crosspoint Christian hosting the Basin Bash with Chiloquin, Bonanza and Lost River. Here’s a full rundown of the results.

Tournament host Stayton held Klamath Union to its fewest points since the 2021-22 season in the opening round.

Klamath Union scored its most points of the season to advance to the consolation championship game.
Sophomore Lisette Watah led the Pelicans with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals; senior Andi Harmon had 16 points and 7 rebounds; senior Farrah Zumwalt had 6 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists; senior Jazmin Wilson had 5 points, 5 rebounds, 5 steals and 4 assists; junior Anyssa Jimenez had 5 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals; junior Bella Armijo had 3 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists; junior Ariah Miller had 3 points; and senior Leah Segura had 2 points and 5 rebounds.
Klamath Union shot 23-of-60 (38%) from the field, including 4-of-14 (29%) from 3-point range. The Timberwolves shot 12-of-43 (28%) from the field, including 2-of-13 (15%) from 3-point range. The Pelicans outrebounded Heritage 40-22.
Cottage Grove 60, Klamath Union 57 (Boys)
Klamath Union lost in the consolation round.

Klamath Union (4-5) beat 5A Dallas (0-6) to finish seventh at the SCTC Holiday Classic.
This was the Pelicans’ first win over a 5A team since the delayed and shortened 2020-21 season.

Klamath Union 40, Molalla 35 (Girls)
Klamath Union (4-5) took the consolation championship at the SCTC Holiday Classic with a win over Molalla (5-4).
The Pelicans have now won back-to-back games for the first time this season and are 3-1 in their last four outings.

Bonanza 41, Chiloquin 23 (Girls)
Chiloquin led 11-10 after the first quarter but was held to 12 points the rest of the way–including zero in the fourth.
Bonanza took a 19-15 lead into halftime and led 31-23 after the third quarter. The Queens’ 23 points were their fewest since the delayed and shortened 2020-21 season.
Senior Grace Kness led the Antlers with 11 points (including three triples), 6 steals, 4 assists and 3 rebounds; senior Mary Schooler had 8 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals; junior Maggie Ackley had 8 points, 4 rebounds and 3 steals; senior Vashti Arata had 8 points and 3 rebounds; sophomore Abby Hill had 3 points and 3 rebounds; senior Haley Wierleske had 2 points and 3 rebounds; and sophomore Ayla DeLonge had 1 point and 2 rebounds.
Bonanza shot 14-of-48 (29%) from the field, including 7-of-18 (39%) from 3-point range, and made 6-of-16 free throws (38%).
Bonanza 68, Chiloquin 45 (Boys)
Bonanza led wire-to-wire against a Chiloquin team missing multiple players.
The Antlers led 19-7 after the first quarter, 32-19 at halftime and 54-30 after the third quarter.
Seniors Alex Renzetti and Victor Gonzalez shared the team lead for Bonanza with 12 points each, junior Garrett Gallagher had 11 (all in the first three quarters), senior Tristan McGann had 9, sophomore Colby Medeiros had 8, sophomores Isaac Noble and Dominick Lamboy had 6 each, and sophomore Travis Patterson and freshman Waylon Hammerich had 2 each.
For the Panthers, sophomore Lalan Wilder had 19 points (8 in the fourth quarter), freshman Denver Bravo had 11, senior Marques Hescock and sophomore Edward Jones had 6 each, and sophomore Josh Morris had 3.
Crosspoint Christian 38, Lost River 31 (Girls)
Three late-quarter surges helped Crosspoint Christian avenge a 43-27 loss at Lost River in both teams’ season opener Dec. 4.
The Warriors scored the last eight points of the first quarter, the last five points of the second quarter and the last 11 points of the third quarter to turn a 9-4 deficit into a 12-9 lead, a 15-12 deficit into a 17-15 lead and a 21-17 deficit into a 28-21 lead.
The Raiders cut Crosspoint Christian’s lead to 31-28 with 3:50 remaining on a banked-in three by sophomore Amaris Hernandez but made one field goal the rest of the way while committing three turnovers.
Sophomore Norah Radford led the Warriors with 11 points (7 in the first quarter), followed by freshman Olivia Fenner with 10, junior Hannah Langford with 9, and junior Charlotte Spalding and freshman Sayuri Serrano-Lopez with 4 each.
For Lost River, senior Mckenzie Dalton had 12 points, 15 rebounds and 2 steals; senior Gemma Arceo-Bigoni had 8 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steals; Hernandez had 6 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals; senior Avery Turner had 5 points, 3 rebounds and 3 steals; senior Zuliana Cobian had 3 steals and 2 rebounds; and junior Madison Holster had 2 rebounds.
Crosspoint Christian shot 13-of-44 (30%) from the field, including 4-of-15 (27%) from 3-point range, and made 8-of-13 free throws (62%). The Raiders shot 9-of-53 (17%) from the field, including 2-of-3 from 3-point range, and made 7-of-16 free throws (44%).
Lost River 62, Crosspoint Christian 59 (Boys)
With only seven players available–and two of those seven battling illness–Crosspoint Christian nearly overcame a 60-50 deficit with two minutes remaining but missed a trio of looks at the game-tying three inside the final 20 seconds.
The Warriors controlled the game for much of the first half, leading 18-14 after the first quarter and 37-30 at halftime. However, Lost River held Crosspoint Christian to 2-of-11 shooting in the third quarter and outscored the Warriors 22-6 to go up 52-43 entering the fourth.
The Raiders avenged a 44-40 home loss to Crosspoint Christian in both teams’ season opener Dec. 4.
Senior Tate Freeman and junior Kellen Dunlea shared the team lead for the Raiders with 16 points each, senior Noah O’Neill had 13, senior Doug Jenkins had 7, senior Beau Sanders had 6, senior Kayden Hartman had 3 and junior Kyle Diaz had 1.
Sophomore Caden Moritz had 8 of Crosspoint Christian’s last 11 points to finish with a game-high 22 plus 21 rebounds and 3 blocks; junior Davis Hartwell had 14 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists; senior Kody Sparks had 13 points; senior Chase Knecht had 3 points; sophomore Trey Johnston had 3 points; senior Paul Casson had 2 points; and junior Clayton Turnage had 2 points and 4 rebounds.
Lost River shot 22-of-60 (37%) from the field, including 6-of-15 from 3-point range, and made 12-of-26 free throws (46%). Crosspoint Christian shot 22-of-68 (32%) from the field, including 7-of-31 (23%) from 3-point range, and made 8-of-14 free throws (57%). The Warriors outrebounded the Raiders 37-30.
Saturday
Lost River 46, Chiloquin 39 (Girls)
After blowing a 17-point third-quarter lead, Lost River (4-3) finished the game on a 9-0 run to beat Chiloquin (5-3) for the first time since the 2021-22 season.
The Raiders led 9-3 after the first quarter and 24-11 at halftime, but the Queens closed the third quarter on a 16-2 run to draw within 30-27. Senior Alivia Miller gave Chiloquin its first lead of the game at 32-30 with just over six minutes to go.
The teams were whistled for a combined 16 fouls (eight each) in the fourth quarter and 47 for the game, with 25 on the Queens and 22 on the Raiders. Three Chiloquin starters (junior Makayla Jayne, senior Laila Perez and senior Elaine Gilchrist) and one Lost River starter (sophomore Amaris Hernandez) fouled out before the Raiders began their game-ending run with 2:05 remaining.
Senior Avery Turner led Lost River with a season-high 18 points, 3 rebounds and 3 steals; junior Macey Thompson had 8 points and 2 rebounds; freshman Isabelle Herring had 7 points and 6 rebounds; Hernandez had 5 points and 4 rebounds; senior Zuliana Cobian had 4 points and 2 steals; senior Mckenzie Dalton had 3 points, 4 rebounds and 2 blocks; senior Julia Ayala had 1 point; and senior Gemma Arceo-Bigoni had 2 rebounds.

The Raiders made 7-of-24 free throws (29%), while the Queens made 14-of-27 (52%).

Lost River (6-1) led by as many as 23 points against a Chiloquin (4-5) team missing multiple players for the second game in a row.
The Raiders led 15-9 after the first quarter, 23-13 at halftime and 42-22 after the third quarter. The Panthers’ only lead of the game came when freshman Denver Bravo made the opening basket.
Senior Tate Freeman led Lost River with 17 points, followed by senior Noah O’Neill with 14 points, senior Kayden Hartman and junior Kyle Diaz with 5 each, senior Beau Sanders and junior Connor Guthrie with 4 each, and senior Doug Jenkins and junior Kellen Dunlea with 2 each.
For Chiloquin, Bravo had 15 points, sophomore Lalan Wilder had 14, freshman Dade Mitchell had 5, and junior Neo Avina-Parazoo and sophomore Edward Jones had 2 each.
The Raiders shot 21-of-67 (31%) from the field, including 3-of-14 (21%) from 3-point range, and made 11-of-19 free throws (58%). The Panthers shot 14-of-40 (35%) from the field, including 3-of-14 from 3-point range, and made 7-of-14 free throws.

Bonanza 37, Crosspoint Christian 21 (Girls)
A 16-point second quarter gave Bonanza (5-5) a lead that proved insurmountable as the Antlers held Crosspoint Christian (6-2) to its lowest scoring output of the season.
The game was tied 4-4 after the first quarter. Bonanza led 20-9 at halftime and 28-14 after the third quarter.
The Antlers snapped the Warriors’ six-game winning streak and have now won back-to-back games for the first time this season.

Bonanza 74, Crosspoint Christian 48 (Boys)
Shorthanded and sick for the second game in a row, Crosspoint Christian (5-2) was within 13-11 of Bonanza (7-1) after the first quarter, but the Antlers outscored the Warriors 20-6 in the second to seize control.
Bonanza led 49-32 after the third quarter. The Antlers avenged a loss to Crosspoint Christian in last year’s Mountain Valley League third place game and have now won seven games in a row after losing their season opener at 3A St. Mary’s Medford.
