Thursday, Friday and Saturday were all action-packed days in Basin high school basketball. Here’s everything you may have missed.
Thursday
Henley 72, Yreka 29 (Girls)
Henley (4-1) led 25-7 after the first quarter, 43-15 at halftime and 65-27 after the third quarter.
Freshman Makayla Schroeder nearly matched Yreka’s (4-6) point total on her own, finishing with 25 points (all in the first three quarters), 11 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 assists. Junior Kennedi Modin had 12 points, 9 assists and 5 steals (all season highs); junior Lily Fussell had 11 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals; sophomore Prestyn Schade had 9 points and 3 assists; senior Bayli Ladner had 4 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals; junior Brooklyn Conrad had 4 points and 4 rebounds; junior Kaydence Nelson had 3 points and 2 rebounds; freshman Gretchen Cheyne had 2 points, 2 rebounds and 2 steals; freshman Saige White had 2 points; and freshman Jayci Ladner had 2 rebounds. It was the first varsity game for the latter three.
Senior Bailee Houston led the visiting Miners with 15 points (on five 3-pointers), followed by senior Emmie Freitas and freshman Alexis Dryg with 4 each. Sophomore Jaelyn Murieen, junior Addi Schaub and senior Autumn Goodwin had 2 each.
Henley hosts 3A Lakeview (2-6) at 6 p.m. Dec. 30. Yreka competes in the West Coast Jamboree in the East Bay Dec. 27-30.
Yreka 58, Henley 43 (Boys)
A contested pull-up by sophomore Carson Siems brought Henley (2-3) within 25-24 with 2:21 left in the second quarter, but the Hornets did not score again until the 4:50 mark of the third–by which time host Yreka (4-6) had pushed its lead to 38-24.
Henley trailed 16-15 after the first quarter, 34-24 at halftime and 48-34 after the third quarter.
Sophomore Micah Ibarra led the Hornets with 15 points (all in the first three quarters), 3 rebounds and 2 assists; senior Bryson Montag had 10 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals; sophomore Corbin Hamilton had 6 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 blocks; senior Finn Charlton had 5 points; senior Kim Sabayton had 2 points and 2 steals; Siems and junior Jeremiah Brunick both had 2 points; junior Ries Schmerbach had 1 point; senior Nolan Mick had 3 rebounds; and junior Sam Bennett had 2 rebounds.
For the Miners, senior Trevan Crane had 34 points (including six threes), senior Skyler McLane had 12 (all after the first quarter), seniors Jeremiah Hale and Brody Zediker both had 5, and senior Nathan Horvath had 2.
Henley hosts 3A Sisters (5-2) at 6 p.m. Monday. Yreka hosts St. Bernard’s (7-2) at 7 p.m. Jan. 3.
Klamath Union 32, North Valley 31 (Girls)
Klamath Union (2-4) withstood a late surge by 3A North Valley (3-4) to snap a three-game losing streak.
Senior Andi Harmon led the visiting Pelicans with 15 points, followed by sophomore Lisette Watah and junior Anyssa Jimenez with 4 each, senior Farrah Zumwalt with 3, and junior Bella Armijo and seniors Jazmin Wilson and Leah Segura with 2 each.
Both teams compete in tournaments Dec. 26-28; Klamath Union competes in the SCTC Holiday Classic at Stayton, while North Valley competes in the Cascade Christmas Classic at Cascade Christian.
Klamath Union 75, North Valley 68 (Boys)
Klamath Union (3-3) put up its most points of the season to hand 3A North Valley (2-5) its third straight loss.
Senior Grafton Watah led the visiting Pelicans with 24 points, 4 blocks, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals; junior Landon Bogatay had 20 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals; senior Malcolm Lassett-Hankins had 18 points, 6 rebounds, 5 steals and 4 assists; senior Ryan Glidden had 7 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals; senior Bryce Petersen had 3 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals; and junior Tildon Coffman had 3 points.
The Pelicans shot 32-of-58 (55%) from the field, including 4-of-15 (27%) from 3-point range.

Ashland 47, Mazama 42 (OT) (Girls)
Mazama (0-8) played its closest game of the season but left 5A Ashland (3-4) with another loss after the Grizzlies outscored the Vikings 10-5 in the overtime period.
Sophomore Leah Hernandez had 12 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals; junior Armeda Kirkpatrick had 10 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals; and senior London O’Brien had 10 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals.
Mazama travels to 3A Lakeview (2-6) at 3 p.m. Jan. 4. Ashland competes in the Cascade Christmas Classic at Cascade Christian Dec. 26-28.
Chiloquin 58, Harvest Christian 49 (Boys)
Host Chiloquin (4-3) won back-to-back games for the first time this season, beating first-year OSAA member Harvest Christian (0-2).
The Panthers compete in the Basin Bash at Crosspoint Christian Dec. 27-28. The Nighthawks compete in the Cascade Christmas Classic at Cascade Christian Dec. 26-28.
Fall River 58, Tulelake 37 (Girls)
Tulelake lost its first game of the Block M Tournament at Modoc.
Fall River 72, Tulelake 67 (Boys)
Tulelake lost its first game of the Block M Tournament at Modoc.
The Honkers trailed 26-11 after the first quarter, 43-29 at halftime and 58-45 after the third quarter.
Friday
Bonanza 41, La Pine 26 (Girls)
Bonanza outscored 3A La Pine 19-8 over the last 11:19 of game time to win its opening round game at the Antler Classic.
The Antlers led 8-7 after the first quarter but went on a 9-0 run over the last 3:57 of the second to take a 19-9 lead into halftime. The Hawks cut the deficit to 22-18 with 4:44 left in the third, but Bonanza pushed it back out to 31-20 entering the fourth after senior Grace Kness banked in a runner at the buzzer from just inside the arc.
Kness led the Antlers with 11 points, followed by junior Maggie Ackley with 7, senior Vashti Arata and junior Briza Garcia with 6 each, sophomore Ayla DeLonge with 4, senior Haley Wierleske with 3, and senior Mary Schooler and sophomore Abby Hill with 2 each.
For La Pine, seniors Peyton Thrasher and August Walker had 8 each, junior Lucy Fisher had 6 and senior Lindsey Moulder had 4.
Bonanza shot 3-of-10 from the free throw line, while La Pine shot 2-of-12.
Bonanza 71, La Pine 40 (Boys)
Bonanza led 16-11 after the first quarter and went on a 37-10 run over the next 11:53 for a commanding win over 3A La Pine in the opening round of the Antler Classic.
The Antlers led 39-17 at halftime and 62-33 after the third quarter.
Seniors Victor Gonzalez and Tristan McGann shared the team lead with 19 points each (McGann hit three triples), sophomore Colby Medeiros had 10, senior Alex Renzetti had 7, junior Garrett Gallagher had 6, senior Daniel Jones had 4, and sophomore Dominick Lamboy and freshman Ben Hess had 3 each.
For the Hawks, senior Keaton Kalmbach had 12 points, junior Davey Taylor had 10, sophomores Shaye Johnson and Dayton Wilkinson had 5 each, junior Wyatt Barker had 4, junior Justin Wrightman had 3 and sophomore Memphis Kalmbach had 1.
Lost River 61, Gold Beach 22 (Girls)
Lost River scored its most points since the 2019-20 season in a dominant win over host Gold Beach (2-5).
Lost River 58, Gold Beach 54 (Boys)
Lost River outscored Gold Beach 27-8 in the fourth quarter to hand the host Panthers (3-3) their third straight loss.
The Raiders trailed 16-14 after the first quarter, 33-21 at halftime and 46-31 after the third quarter.
Senior Tate Freeman had 14 points (10 in the fourth quarter), 6 rebounds and 3 steals; senior Noah O’Neill had 12 points and 6 rebounds; senior Doug Jenkins had 12 points (all in the second half), 5 rebounds and 4 steals; junior Kellen Dunlea had 6 points and 5 steals; senior Kayden Hartman had 5 points and 5 rebounds; senior Beau Sanders had 5 points and 4 rebounds; and junior Connor Guthrie had 4 points and 4 rebounds.
Lost River outrebounded Gold Beach 35-22.
Crosspoint Christian 44, Days Creek 38 (Boys)
Crosspoint Christian won its first game at the Tall Timbers Tournament at Elkton despite shooting 16-of-45 (36%) from the field, including 1-of-12 (8%) from 3-point range.
The Warriors led 8-7 after the first quarter, 24-14 at halftime and 38-35 after the third quarter.
Junior Brock Throne had 17 points and 14 rebounds; sophomore Caden Moritz had 11 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steals; senior Kody Sparks had 11 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals; junior Davis Hartwell had 5 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists; and junior Clayton Turnage had 7 rebounds.
Crosspoint Christian outrebounded Days Creek 40-16.
Crosspoint Christian 50, Days Creek 12 (Girls)
Crosspoint Christian matched its second-fewest points allowed in program history to win its first game at the Tall Timbers Tournament at Elkton.
The Warriors led 13-4 after the first quarter, 34-7 at halftime and 48-9 after the third quarter.
Sophomore Chloe Butler had 11 points, junior Hannah Langford had 9, sophomore Norah Radford had 8, freshman Olivia Fenner had 7, freshman Sayuri Serrano-Lopez had 6, senior Jade Cummings had 4, junior Kim Pannell had 3 and freshman Faith Anderson had 2.
For the Wolves, freshman Maggie Brown had 4 points, senior Natalie Harris and freshman Jazmine Estrada had 3 each, and freshman Hannah Johnson had 2.
Portola 71, Tulelake 54 (Girls)
Tulelake lost its second game of the Block M Tournament at Modoc.
Portola 74, Tulelake 36 (Boys)
Tulelake trailed 29-8 after the first quarter, 50-18 at halftime and 65-31 after the third quarter in its second game of the Block M Tournament at Modoc.
Saturday
North Lake/Paisley Charter 45, Bonanza 42 (Girls)
Bonanza (3-5) trailed by 15 in the third quarter and was down 41-32 with 4:15 remaining in the fourth before going on a 9-0 run to tie the Antler Classic championship game with 1:06 to go.
Senior Mary Schooler nailed a three from the left slot to even the score, and the Antlers forced a North Lake/Paisley Charter (8-1) turnover on the next possession. With 35 seconds on the clock, an inbound pass near midcourt was intercepted by Cowgirls sophomore Emma Baker, who passed ahead to senior Hannah Roth for a layup.
Bonanza had a chance to tie the game again on its final two possessions but missed a free throw and a 3-pointer. The Antlers trailed 15-6 after the first quarter, 25-14 at halftime and 33-26 after the third quarter.
North Lake/Paisley Charter previously beat Bonanza 47-44 last season when the teams were both in the 1A Mountain Valley League. The Antlers now play in the 2A East Cascades Conference.
Junior Briza Garcia led Bonanza with 12 points, followed by senior Vashti Arata and junior Maggie Ackley with 10 each, Schooler with 5, senior Haley Wierleske with 3 and sophomore Hadley Woods with 2.
For the Cowgirls, Hannah Roth had 19 points, sophomore Acacia Roth had 16, freshman Vika Baker and sophomore Dillynn Puckett had 4 each, and junior Lindsay McAulay had 2. The Cowgirls did not make a triple.
Bonanza competes in the Basin Bash at Crosspoint Christian Dec. 27-28. North Lake/Paisley Charter travels to Yoncalla (4-5) at 2 p.m. Dec. 30.
Bonanza 76, Illinois Valley 57 (Boys)
Bonanza (5-1) held Illinois Valley (6-3) to six points in the fourth quarter of the Antler Classic championship game after the Cougars reduced its 16-point halftime lead to 56-51 entering the final period.
The Antlers led 25-16 after the first quarter and 43-27 at the half.
Junior Garrett Gallagher led Bonanza with 24 points, followed by senior Victor Gonzalez with 21, sophomore Colby Medeiros with 14, senior Alex Renzetti with 7, senior Tristan McGann with 5, sophomore Dominick Lamboy with 4 and sophomore Isaac Noble with 1.
For Illinois Valley, junior Brantly Arroyo had 27 points, sophomore Myles Stone had 13, junior Kegan Russell had 8, junior Jesse Connell had 4, sophomore Mason Richardson had 3 and sophomore Jeremiah Izzo had 2.
The win lifted the Antlers to No. 8 in the OSAA 2A computer rankings.
Bonanza competes in the Basin Bash at Crosspoint Christian Dec. 27-28. Illinois Valley hosts Riddle (5-3) at 2 p.m. Dec. 27.
Myrtle Point 33, Lost River 27 (Girls)
Lost River (3-2) held Myrtle Point (7-0) to its fewest points of the season, but it wasn’t enough to get the win at Gold Beach.
The Bobcats are now No. 2 in the OSAA 1A computer rankings.

Crosspoint Christian (5-0) entered the fourth quarter trailing 29-28 but outscored host Elkton 23-4 in the period to sweep the Tall Timbers Tournament.
The Warriors led 14-9 after the first quarter and 20-18 at halftime. The Elks’ (3-4) 33 points mark their season-low scoring output.

Tulelake (5-8) finished the Block M Tournament with a loss to host Modoc (8-5).
The Honkers trailed 13-8 after the first quarter, 30-18 at halftime and 46-22 after the third quarter.
Tulelake travels to Dunsmuir for an Evergreen League matchup at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 7. Modoc competes in the Enterprise Tournament Dec. 31-Jan. 2.
Modoc 54, Tulelake 42 (Boys)
Tulelake (2-10) concluded the Block M Tournament with a loss to host Modoc (7-6).
The Honkers trailed 10-0 after the first quarter, 28-10 at halftime and 46-26 after the third quarter.
Tulelake travels to Dunsmuir for an Evergreen League matchup at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 7. Modoc competes in the Corning Shootout at Corning Jan. 9-11.
