Beavers Defeat Vandals

CORVALLIS – The Oregon State men’s basketball team took a 78-62 win over Idaho Saturday afternoon at Gill Coliseum.

With the win, the Beavers improve to 6-2 to start the season.

Parsa Fallah led the Beavers with 25 points on 10-for-16 shoting. Michael Rataj finished just short of his fifth double-double of the season, going for 14 points, eight rebounds, five steals and four assists. Damarco Minor had nine assists in the contest, after recording 10 against UC Davis las weekend.

Nate Kingz finished with nine points, while Liutauras Lelevicius tallied nine points and six rebounds. Josiah Lake II had eight points on 3-for-4 shooting.

As a team, Oregon State shot 46.9 percent from the floor including 51.7 percent in the second half. The Beavers had 21 assists, compared to just five turnovers.

The teams went back-and-forth early on, heading to the game’s first media timeout even at 10. The Beavers scored seven-straight points to open up a 22-15 lead. Oregon State would go to lead by as many as 10 in the opening 20 minutes, before heading to the break in front 36-30.

Fallah had 10 points on 4-for-7 shooting in the first half.

The Beavers scored the first seven points of the second half to bring the lead to nine. Oregon State led by 14 with 14 minutes remaining in the contest. OSU didn’t look back from there, leading by as many as 24 before taking the win by 16.

The Beavers will be back at home next Saturday to take on UC Irvine.
