Klamath Union 44, Yreka 42 (Girls)

A day after losing a game it led by six points at the start of the fourth quarter, Klamath Union (1-1) rallied to win a game it trailed by the same margin entering the final period.

The Pelicans outscored the Miners 10-0 over the first 3:57 of the frame–taking their first lead of the game in the process–but Yreka battled back to tie the game 40-40 with 53.5 seconds to go.

Free throws ultimately gave Klamath Union the deciding advantage. Senior Leah Segura converted both attempts to put the Pelicans up 43-41 when she was fouled on a shot with 26 seconds left. The teams then traded 1-for-2 trips to the line.

The Miners turned the ball over with 8.3 seconds on the clock when a pass from midcourt sailed out of bounds and were unable to get a shot off after inbounding from their own baseline with 4.1 seconds remaining.

Klamath Union had to play the final 53.5 seconds with no substitutes available, as three of its eight players fouled out. Two other Pelicans players finished the game with four fouls.
