KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Alexis Elquist recorded career-highs with 20 points and 15 rebounds, as Oregon Tech turned 27 turnovers into 42 points in a 102-54 win over Cal Maritime in the final game of the Lithia Classic at Danny Miles Court.
The Lady Owls (2-2) shot a season-high 50-percent from the field, scoring 68 points in the paint, finishing the night with a 57-19 edge on the glass.
CMA (1-5) forced five OIT turnovers in the first four minutes, taking a 9-6 lead on two Tiare Novero-Paaga free throws. From that point – it was all OIT.
Tech closed the first quarter on a 21-6 run – getting consecutive lay-ups from Kennedy Tull and back-to-back post buckets from Maddyson Tull in the surge. The Owls rattled of 20-straight points early in the second quarter, including eight points from Tatum Schmerbach, building the lead to 49-18.
The Owls continued their big night in the third quarter, as Kennedy Tull hit consecutive treys in a 12-0 run that extended the margin to 74-26 – allowing the hosts to allow every available player on the bench to see the court.
Elquist had 10 of OIT’s 30 offensive rebounds and added two blocks, with Schmerbach scoring 14 and Kennedy Tull tossing in a season-high 13. Kendall Fealey scored 10 and adding a career-high eight assists, with Brooke Anderson posting seven of the Owls 18 steals.
Jaz Novelli led the Keelhaulers wth 14 points.
In the early game, Southern Oregon completed a perfect weekend, rolling to a 76-52 win over UC Merced.
OIT closes out their non-conference play next week, traveling to Arizona for games at Park-Gilbert and Arizona Christian.
