RENO, Nev. – Despite a well-balanced offensive attack and new season highs, the Oregon State football team could not complete a fourth quarter comeback, falling 42-37 to Nevada on Saturday night.

Anthony Hankerson found the endzone a career-best three times off 28 touches and dashed for 154 yards to lead the Beavers’ (4-2) rushing attack. Gevani McCoy tossed a touchdown on 27-of-42 through the air and totaled 348 yards. He became the first Beaver signal caller to achieve the mark since 2022.

With the scores, Hankerson has now scored in all of Oregon State’s games this season.

Defensively, Oregon State was led by Melvin Jordan IV, who totaled nine stops and a team-best 5.0 solo tackles while Skyler Thomas followed with eight tackles and 5.0 solo stops.

The Wolfpack were held to just 14 points at the intermission before outscoring Oregon State 28-20 in the second half, including 21-13 in the final frame. Eager to take the lead back in the final stages of the contest, McCoy’s first down pass with seven seconds was picked off in the endzone, sealing the road loss.

Hankerson found the endzone twice in the second half after a singular trip in the second quarter. The Florida product punched it in from distances of 18 yards, eight yards and then one yard. Jake Reichle opened the game’s scoring in the first quarter with a three-yard rush on the first drive. The Beavers stretched their lead to 17-14 by the break thanks to the pair of rushing scores.

Nevada responded with four second half touchdowns – including three in the final stanza – to seal the win.

The Beavers will return to Reser Stadium for Homecoming next week against UNLV. Kickoff against the Rebels is set for 7 p.m. and can be seen on The CW.
