Early on the morning of Tuesday, October 8th, the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team assisted Redding Police Department (RPD) Officers in the successful apprehension of a mass shooting suspect near Dorris, CA. 19 year-old Andrew Greer-Herrera of Lookout, CA, was one of two individuals at large after five Redding residents were shot last Friday, resulting in the death of Isaiah Jacob Stanley, 22, and Winfred Avant Jr., 30, and the hospitalization of three others.

Redding Police Officers located the first shooting suspect, Trevon Evanoff, 18, of Redding, in Reno, NV on Sunday, October 6th. Throughout the weekend, Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Deputies aided RPD in serving search warrants and pursuing numerous leads around eastern Siskiyou County. By Tuesday, investigators were confident they had located Greer-Herrera and initiated a SWAT response to the residence where he was staying in the Pleasant Valley Highlands above Dorris. Greer-Herrera was subsequently arrested without incident and booked in the Siskiyou County Jail while he awaits arraignment.

The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office would like to commend the Special Response Team for their work to skillfully and safely apprehend Greer-Herrera, and offer its sincerest condolences to the victims of Friday’s tragic shooting.
