NEWBERG, Ore. – Lennyn Solis slotted home a 1-on-1 counterattack late in the first half and the Oregon Tech defense made the goal stand, as the Hustlin’ Owls opened up the 2024 men’s soccer season with a 1-0 victory over George Fox at the Austin Sports Complex.
OIT (1-0) limited the host Bruins to four shots on the afternoon – with the Tech defense not allowing a shot on frame.
Transfer Wolfgang Alvarado was turned away twice in the first 25 minutes by GFU keeper Justin Huttinger, before Solis tallied the go-ahead goal in the 38th minute. The senior tackled a ball away from a Bruins defensive midfielder, drove to goal and lined a dart into the left corner of the net for the game-winner.
Following the break, the Owls controlled the possession, with the Bruins getting one shot attempt in the final 25 minutes of the game.
OIT returns to the pitch on Wednesday for their home opener, meeting Simpson at 2 p.m.
