SCOFMP managing fire near Crater Lake

The South Central Oregon Fire Management Partnership Type 3 Team is managing the Middle Fork Fire in Crater Lake National Park. The fire is estimated at 80 acres, burning in a scar from a previous fire. The photo shows the approximate location.

The fire is staffed with resources including smokejumpers and hand crews, with aviation assets providing support. Firefighters are experiencing challenges addressing spotting from snag to snag. Today, fire managers are looking to secure the edges of the fire and build containment.

As a result of the fire, there may be conditions affecting visitors to the park. For information on current park conditions, please contact Crater Lake National Park at 541 594-3000 or visit their website at https://www.nps.gov/crla/planyourvisit/conditions.htm
