KCSO releases update on missing man

At 11:45am on Friday May 3rd, the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a person believed to be missing in the area of Dead Indian Memorial Rd and Keno Access Rd west of Klamath Falls near Lake of the Woods. Reported missing is Gerald “Jerry” Duane Severson, a 56-year-old male Applegate Valley resident. The initial report indicated Mr. Severson went to the area with friends to hunt for mushrooms and was last seen walking into the woods by himself in the vicinity of Dead Indian Memorial Rd and Keno Access Rd in the late afternoon hours of Thursday May 2nd. Friends searched for him Thursday evening and Friday morning before contacting Klamath County 911 just before noon.

UPDATE: Over the weekend of June 1-2, 2024, Search and Rescue volunteers from multiple counties organized a second search in the area where Mr. Severson was last reported being seen in hopes of locating any evidence of Mr. Severson’s whereabouts. The search area was expanded. Mr. Severson was not located however there were several articles of clothing located which had not been discovered in the earlier searches. It has not been determined if the clothing belonged to Mr. Severson, however some of the articles generally appeared to match what he was last observed wearing.

Mr. Severson was last seen wearing dark colored Carhart pants and a dark colored hooded sweatshirt/jacket. He is approximately 5’ 04”, 140lbs with short brown hair.
