YREKA, Calif. May 16, 2024, Cal-Ore Communications is excited to announce the expansion of its broadband service in Siskiyou County with two new options. First a Fiber-Optic overlay of the City of Yreka. This expansion of Cal-Ore’s fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) network has the goal of being able to serve each home and business in the city of Yreka with Fiber-Optic Internet Service.

In addition, Cal-Ore will begin offering our NextGen Fixed Wireless Internet Service in Yreka in the coming weeks. This service is delivered wirelessly with a 100 Mbps plan to the home and can be converted to a fiber plan once we’ve completed construction on our FTTP network in Yreka.

“The City of Yreka is ecstatic to hear that Cal-Ore will be providing fiber optic broadband to the residential area of Yreka.” Stated Jason Ledbetter, Yreka City Manager “The City of Yreka values reliable and quick internet speeds for the public, and we believe having the fiber optic broadband available will help the City of Yreka continue to increase the standard of living for all in our community.”

Cal-Ore has already begun large scale engineering for the FTTP project with the goal of beginning to turn up customers in the fall of 2024. Cal-Ore will offer competitive plans for reliable broadband access, and we expect to begin offering early signup incentives to residents and businesses soon.

“With this build Cal-Ore plans to bring a faster, more reliable broadband experience to the people of Yreka.” said Rodney Wood, CLEC Manager at Cal-Ore. “We’ve seen in recent years the increasing reliance people have on high-speed broadband for their homes and businesses. Whether that is for work, education, or leisure, you need a faster broadband connection that has traditionally been out of reach for small communities like Yreka.”

During engineering and construction of our FTTP network, families and businesses will see an increased presence of Cal Ore vehicles in addition to various contractors as we work to complete this build as quickly and safely as possible so that we can provide the high quality of service that people have come to expect from Cal-Ore.

Cal-Ore and its employees have been your friends and neighbors for over 74 years in Siskiyou and Modoc Counties. Currently Cal-Ore provides services to many of the area’s businesses, public safety entities, local municipalities, agriculture, community organizations, and residents. We are proud to be fully involved in the communities that we serve by providing support of several local organizations such as, Volunteer Fire Departments, Community Centers, Grange Halls, Little League, Swim Days, seniors programs, school programs, 4H & FFA, and numerous community organizations.
