KLAMATH FALLS, Ore – The 32nd Coldwell Banker Track and Field Invitational was held at Mazama High School on Saturday. The meet featured 25 schools from all over Oregon, California, and Nevada. For the second consecutive time, and fourth time overall, the Henley boys track team placed first. The Sisters Outlaws girls squad earned a title for their first championship in the meet’s history.
In the boys 400-meters Henley’s Chris Janney won the event scoring a time of 51.23 followed by fellow Hornet Connell Hood who hit a personal record of 52.54. Henley’s Samuel Iversen won the boys 1500-meters at 4:16.68 and Matt Iversen won the boys 300-meter hurdles at 40.55. Those four athletes represented Henley in the boys 4×400 relay where they would cruise to a time of 3:30.83, over eight seconds better than second place Crook County. Wyatt Fussel won the boys 800-meter race with a time of 2:04.09. Luke Chase earned victory in the boys discus throw at 136’8″ and Bryson Montag triple jumped to a personal best 43’6″ to win the event.
Basin athletes swept the boys Long Jump with Lost River’s Chase McAuliffe posting a personal best 21′ 4.74″ with Henley’s Luke Bennett leaping 21′ 1.5″ and Jeremiah Brunick at 20′ 8.75″. They were the only jumpers to clear 20′. McAuliffe also claimed the boys high jump at 6’1″ followed by Montag at 5’10”.
Sisters was helped to victory by two first place finished from Audrey Corcoran in the girls 100-meters (12.64) and girls 200-meters (26.35). The Outlaws also saw Ella Bartlet win the girls 3000-meters (11:28.83), Lily Sundstrom win the girls 300-meter hurdles (49.12), Gracie Vohs win the girls high jump (5’2″), and Mae Roth win the girls pole vault (9’0).
Mazama’s Sydney Baker was a standout performer winning the girls 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.14, breaking the previous Viking Stadium record of 15.41 set by Stephanie Robertson from North Medford in 1994. Baker also anchored her team to a girls 4×100 victory as she joined Quinlynn Spivey, Nishika Irish, and Mada Lee to post a time of 51.37. Henley’s Samantha Nyseth placed first in shot put tossing 34’3″.
