Klamath Falls, ORE– Thirty-plus residents in the neighborhood near Mills Addition in Klamath Falls struggle with unexplained flooding under their properties and the local government is finally taking action.
Residents along Merryman Drive, Woodland Avenue, Reclamation Avenue, and Applewood Street have been complaining of flooding under their homes for years and they say it coincides with the return of water to the Klamath Irrigation District’s “A” canal.
The Klamath County Board of Commissioners declared the hydrological event an emergency on Wednesday of last week.
Ian Thigpin, Emergency Management Director for Klamath County says “There’s no doubt they’re being impacted and it’s affecting their health. It’s affecting the structures over properties. And I think that we have sufficient evidence, I believe to make a local disaster declaration.”
