Local Bowlers Stand Out at District Tournament

Bend, ORE – Last weekend was the Oregon State Bowling Congress’ District Six tournament and multiple bowlers from the Klamath Basin earned All-Star honors.

Henley High School sent three teams to compete in the boys division, Eagle Ridge High School had one team, and Mazama sent a girls unit to knock down the pins at Lava Lanes in Bend. They competed against teams from Bend High School and Caldera High School for a total of 10 teams at the event.

Each team bowled 20 games for placement and at the end of it all, the Mazama girls claimed first place at the tournament and will advance to the State Championship in Salem on February 24th and 25th. Henley Gold faced off with Caldera for the tournament crown, but it was the Wolfpack who pulled away from the Hornets, outscoring Henley 471-421 to earn the title. Both teams will advance to the State Championship along with Eagle Ridge.

As mentioned, multiple athletes earned All-Star honors at the event. To qualify, bowlers had to be in the top five of the boys and girls divisions at the district tournament. The Mazama girls will send five bowlers to the All-Star tournament in Salem on March 9th and 10th. Macy Wencl, Adysinn DeLorme, Kloe Delorme, Zoe Howard, and Shyanne Pritchett all earned a spot.

The Henley boys will send Carson Siems, Dane Downing, David Rutledge, and Carson Pimley to All-Stars.
