Salem, Ore. – A change may be coming to Oregon’s first-in-the-nation drug decriminalization laws. Democratic lawmakers have introduced a bill to recriminalize the possession of small amounts of drugs and crack down on their use in public. The bill also aims to strengthen treatment incentives for users who are caught. Supporters call it a compromise path to keep communities safe and save lives. Lawmakers will discuss the changes at the brief legislative session that starts February 5th.
