OLYMPIA, Wash. – Jozie Ramos scored a career-high 24 points, narrowly missing the Oregon Tech single-game field goal percentage record, as the Lady Owls remained unbeaten on the season, rolling past Evergreen State, 77-45, inside Constantino Recreation Center.
OIT (10-0, 4-0 CCC) won their tenth game in a row, setting up a first-place match-up on Wednesday in Ashland, as the Owls tangle with Southern Oregon, the only other undefeated team in the Cascade Conference.
Ramos connected on 11-of-12 field goal attempts – joining Courtney Clemmer (2020 vs. Warner Pacific) for No. 2 on the Tech single-game field goal percentage list (among players making at least eight field goals in a game). Brittany Cherry holds the record, making all 10 field goal chances in a 2010 game against Menlo.
The Geoducks (1-6, 1-4) took a 9-6 first quarter lead on consecutive Sydney Vanness jumpers – but the home team watched as Ramos took the game over. The freshman splashed her first career 3-pointer, starting a personal 7-point run to give OIT the lead. The jumper started a 17-0 run by the Lady Owls, with Ramos scoring 13 of the points in the surge.
Leading 34-22 in the third quarter, Tech put the game away with a 14-0 run. Tatum Schmerbach hit a 3-pointer and a lay-up, with Olivia Sprague and Gabbie Gascon adding jumpers.
OIT finished the afternoon making 52-percent of their field goal attempts, while holding the Geoducks to a 26-percent clip and forcing 24 turnovers.
Sprague capped a big weekend, scoring 14 points, adding eight rebounds and four assists, Schmerbach had 12 points, seven rebounds and eight assists, with Gascon scoring nine points, with four assists and three steals.
Honey Padasdao led the Geoducks with 10 points and five rebounds.
