The Bates Family Discusses The Shooting Death of Tyler Bates on KAGO News

Tyler-Bud-Bates

On August 7th, 2022, a woman woke Tyler Bates from his sleep and began an argument that ended with Tyler dead from five gunshots and a family torn apart with grief. September 25th Marks the National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims and in honor we are featuring an exclusive interview we shot with three of his sisters, Sarah Bates, Jewel Mattos, and Shannon Hulbert. In this interview, we discuss how Tyler Bates might have survived had he received emergency medical care in a more timely fashion.  With limited police to secure the active shooter area at the time, Tyler bled out in his front yard while on-lookers watched. We also discuss the recent spate of gun violence that has plagued the small town of 770 people including the shooting death of Joshua Brown last week and the man who sent Chiloquin into lockdown on Aug 31 by roaming through town with a rifle. This important interview is aimed at understanding how this violence affected the Bates family with an eye to trying to stem further gun violence in the area. Please view the interview below
