HAVRE, Mont. – The Hustlin’ Owls (8-3) faced their third loss of the season Saturday night in Havre, Montana as Montana State-Northern (6-1) downed Oregon Tech 80-74.
A 7-2 run in the first three minutes got the Lights started up, bringing them to the end of the first half with a nine-point advantage over the Owls. Tech, however was able to cut the lead to six in the second half, out-scoring MSN 44-41.
“Outstanding road effort tonight,” said Head Coach Justin Parnell. “Montana State Northern is a very quality team and efficient offensively. Any time you go 3-15 from the perimeter it’s going to be hard to win, but I liked our fight to keep it within a few possessions. We look forward to going on the road to COI next weekend.”
Junior Mitchell Fink had 20 points in the game – a high for the Owls and the game – and added eight assists. Junior Seth Erickson garnered 16 and Sophomore Scotty Burge chipped in 8.
OIT had 29 points from their bench as compared to 21 from Montana State.
